Cedar Grove Cemetery staff, Rev. Brian Ching, C.S.C. and other members of the campus community gathered in the rain on Tuesday, September 12th to dedicate and bless the newest addition to the cemetery, the St. Joseph the Worker Columbarium and statue.

Offering affordable internment options for Notre Dame faculty and staff, the columbarium’s installation has been a long time in the making. It’s a project Lori Bush, senior director of enterprises & operations for University Enterprises & Events, has felt passionate about for years. “We’ve wanted to make purchasing space in the cemetery possible for everyone in our campus community. The addition of the columbarium allows for that with less expensive internment options, making it possible for more people to make Notre Dame their forever home.”

Faculty and staff may purchase niches around the exterior of the columbarium or choose to have their ashes placed in a common urn in the center of the structure. These spaces are available now by contacting Cedar Grove Cemetery at 574-631-5660 or cemetery@nd.edu.
