Larry Mullins

Moon was a fullback on Knute Rockne’s undefeated national championship teams in 1929 and 1930. He went on to be a successful college coach who believed in “ironman football” with players expected to play both offense and defense. He was an assistant at St. Ambrose University and then Florida State before serving as a Navy preflight instructor during WWII. He returned to St. Ambrose as the head coach leading them to their winningest season in school history and championships in both the Iowa and Midlands conferences. He left St. Ambrose to become the Athletic Director of Kansas State University.
